Tyra B decided she wanted to be an entertainer at age 9, in nothing like the usual inner city neighborhood that appears in most artist bios. Raised in Petersburg, Virginia, Tyra B honed her singing and dancing skills in the family garage.
It was at a Petersburg High School talent show that Tyra B got a first confirmation that her hard work was paying off. A radio jock caught her act and began playing her self-produced songs on Richmond radio. That year her career took off like the vertical climb of a rocket.
Back to back, two of Tyra B's independently produced singles scaled the R&B Urban chart. Country Boy hit 16 and the follow-up Still In Love topped out at 22. Then came two tours as an opener for Destiny's Child.
The release of Tyra B's new single Givin' Me a Rush marks the start of another phase in her amazing young career, as she prepares for the release of her first solo album on a major label. With the big guns behind her it's only a question of how high will Tyra B fly? |
