Call him what you will – a crossover sensation, a trailblazer into a new genre of hip hop, or a throwback to pop music with no Parental Advisory stickers. It doesn’t matter how you label Sean Kingston. All that matters is that he has found a sound and an approach to his music that has major appeal.
Sean’s self-titled debut album was Executive Produced by J.R. Rotem, and Sean made the connection with Rotem on his own, by barraging Rotem’s MySpace site with emails. Once they got together, Rotem recognized a unique talent in Sean, and fully supported his goal to write all his own lyrics for the album.
Sean Kingston is a 17-year-old who wants to send a positive message to other teens. He’s seen how hard life can be, personally, but he’s saying that you should have hope, life can be better, and that’s worth believing in. It’s a message that we all seem ready to hear. |
